Company History

Since the company's inception in 1999, it has focused on saving clients time and money and helping them improve communication. It started with the innovative idea of helping U.S. employers stay compliant with government labor laws by using an Internet-based application to deliver the required documents in electronic format via email.

In 2000, GovDelivery's Digital Communication Management platform was developed in collaboration with local governments to meet the growing need for practical, reliable communication tools that could empower the public sector to provide citizens with better service and access to information. The beta version of GovDelivery was launched in the company's home city of St. Paul, Minnesota.

GovDelivery's platform has since made its mark on government-to-citizen communication all across the world and now works with more than 400 government entities.

In September 2009, GovDelivery partnered with GovLoop, the premier social network for government, offering government agencies an additional channel to improve collaboration and information sharing. GovDelivery, Inc. has grown significantly beyond its Midwest roots and its reach now extends around the world.
